De­part­ment Life Cycle En­gi­nee­ring (GaBi)

The de­part­ment Life Cycle En­gi­nee­ring (GaBi) was foun­ded in 1989 wi­t­hin the In­sti­tu­te for Po­ly­mer Tes­ting and Po­ly­mer Sci­ence (IKP) at Uni­ver­si­tät Stutt­gart. In 2006 the de­part­ment has chan­ged to the Chair for Buil­ding Phy­sics. As a re­sult the dept. GaBi also be­ca­me part of the Fraun­ho­fer In­sti­tu­te for Buil­ding Phy­sics (IBP) in 2008.

Key ac­tivi­ties of the de­part­ment GaBi is the Life Cycle En­gi­nee­ring and ana­ly­sis of pro­ducts, pro­ces­ses and ser­vices con­cerning their en­viron­men­tal, eco­no­mi­cal, so­ci­al and tech­ni­cal as­pects th­roug­hout the whole Life Cycle to be used as basis for de­ci­si­on sup­port and de­ci­si­on ma­king.

Joined development of GaBi software

Together with the department of Life Cycle Engineering PE INTERNATIONAL develops the GaBi Software - the world­wi­de lea­ding tools for life cycle as­sess­ments and life cycle en­gi­nee­ring. GaBi is the most pro­fes­sio­nal, user-​fri­end­ly and high-​per­for­mance LCA tool, which sup­ports the user in mo­de­ling, ma­nage­ment and as­sess­ment of life cycle data on the pro­cess, pro­duct and com­pa­ny level.
