The closing the loop and recycling are critical factors in nearly all branches of business management today. The cost of disposal alternatives, the enlarged product responsibility and compliance with requirements and directives for a product's End-of-Life (EoL) treatment (e.g. ELV, WEEE, battery take back or packaging waste directive) are areas of conflicting interests. Therefore, considering combined economic-ecological aspects can be an adequate approach for a company's disposal management.
Compliance with regulations alone does not, however, necessarily constitute the most ecologically-viable option for product disposal. Only an assessment of current standards and alternatives can reveal improvement potentials.
For just this purpose, as part of its wide range of services, PE International offers an ecological-economic assessment of disposal alternatives; eco2 EoL evaluation services - a form of consultancy, based on a newly-developed evaluation method.
