In co-operation with PE-International, the SETAC organization committee enables participants of their European conference to make their travel-related impacts carbon neutral.

For SETAC Europe Conference certificates are sourced from the following project:

The Renewable Energy Grid connected Biomass Power Project in Pudukottai, India

• The emission reduction will result from emission reduction during the years 2006 and are verified in accordance with the CDM Standard by DET NORSKE VERITAS.
• The redemption of emission reduction will be certified by the CDM Executive Board of UNFCCC.
• The price of the selected certificates is 25 €/tCO2e
• The offsetting transaction takes place at the SETAC registration desk during the conference. Each participant will get a certificate.

Emission Sourcing and Redemption

Emissions reduction certificates for travel related emissions of the SETAC Europe conference will be sourced by PE-International. Emission reductions certificates are sourced from a carbon offset project under the CDM scheme that are validated and certified by independent third parties accredited at the UNFCCC and accepted and registered by the CDM Executive Board.

Calculation of GHG-emissions

Each participant can estimate his personal greenhouse gas emissions and resulting certification costs due to its travel activities in advance by using our online calculator. The average emissions in kg CO2-equivalent for car, rail and air transport are calculated based on our life cycle database GaBi and internationally established emission factors.
