Project Type GHG Mitigation Project
Project Developer ARA Carbon Finance GmbH
Project Description The project is an agricultural methane capture project. Under the project activity, swine manure at the piggery of Sandbeiendorf is fed into a biogas plant. The manure is aerobically digested, yielding methane and a high quality fertilizer. The methane is piped into a CHP unit to generate electricity and heat.
Project Benefits 1/ Validated GHG mitigation project following the JI and CDM mechanisms according to UNFCCC standards.
2/ Significant reduction of uncontrolled methane emissions arising during storage of manure in the baseline scenario.
  3/ Decentralised GHG mitigation approach
GHG Report Project Design Document
Validation Report PDD validation report by UNFCCC accredited DOE
Emission Reduction Type Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) measured in tonnes of CO2e
Estimated Lifetime Emission Reduction Ca 170000 tCO2e
Project Start Date 1.1.2005
Project End Date 31.12.2014
Project Country Location Germany
